Teaching/Events

Teaching

We teach heritage crafts in rural areas of East Sussex and Kent. Crafts such as Hand Spinning, Tapestry Weaving, Knitting, Crochet and Locker Hooking are popular with all ages. Our small groups of learners are aged 12 years upwards (our eldest so far 85+  years young). All equipment and materials are provided but learners are encouraged to bring their own if they so wish. There is tea, coffee, biscuits and cake throughout the learning time. Our teaching methods are relaxed and fun. We encourage learners to keep in touch with us and each other, post learning, for friendship and craft support.

Hand Spinning Course

You will learn how to use a spinning wheel and a drop spindle. There will be the opportunity to try at least 2 different spinning wheels.  The course covers co-ordination and drafting skills, hand carding and fleece preparation. You will produce 2 bobbins of yarn over 2 days.   Guidance, when buying a spinning wheel, maintenance and the mechanics of a wheel is also available.  There is also the opportunity for ongoing support after the course.

All materials and equipment are supplied.   You are welcome to bring your own wheel if you prefer.

Bring a packed lunch.          Tea, Coffee, Biscuits, Cake and Fun supplied.  For further details please contact me
